Massey/Webbwood/Walford are all part of Sables-Spanish Rivers Township. Massey is situated at the point where the Aux Sables and Spanish Rivers meet. In the summer, you can take a dip at Mouth Park or camp and hike at Chutes Provincial Park. The park is located just 1 km off of Highway 17. You can tent or RV camp, and Chutes is open from May to October. There is a 6 km hiking trail with scenic waterfalls and a gorge view.
The township has long been considered a bedroom community to nearby Espanola with Webbwood only 10 minutes and Massey and Walford approximately 20-25 minutes away.
Sables-Spanish Rivers Township has a long history of farming that continues to this day. When you take the “back roads” you can find road-side produce stands offering what’s in season as well as farm fresh eggs and meat. For the gardener, the veggie plants blooms for sale at the local farms beginning in May and June are second-to-none.
Yearly events include Christmas in Massey and the Massey Agricultural Fair. There are many other activities at the Lee Valley Hall, Legion and arena.
The tight-knit village of Webbwood offers darts and spaghetti suppers at the Eagles Club. Residents host Christmas and Canada Day parades.
Walford has a community centre that hosts dinners and other community activities.
